A hymn for the future
A holy man preforms a ritual on the opposite side of the ghats where the festival is taking place at River Gandak. Sonepur Mela is an annual month long festival that usually happens during Nov in Bihar, Central India and is supposed to be the largest cattle fair in Asia.It is also famous for its trade of elephants and being visited by people from all across the country .
As a photographer from India, I have many passing thoughts. Some are in journal, some just are a wish list and some remain stuck with you. As a father to a growing child, I had this lingering thought since 2014 which now happens to grow on me even more.
I wish people don’t cause each other such sufferings. After all we are on land for a few years. I hope our success is not measure of Bollywood, Cricket, big cars and fat pay packages. But more inclined towards breathing better, doing what we love to do and ensuring no one goes hungry. I hope our future generation is able to observe wildlife in their truest of form. Nature and only nature will help us survive. But we must let it survive. Religion is not a trigger point, but a way to share each other’s beliefs. Mankind though considered a smart species sometimes must believe in itself. I have always believed in technology for the better. I wish India a lot cleaner and lot less corrupt.
