Update: Photography book from Rajasthan
I recently completed writing the preface for my upcoming photography book on Rajasthan , that will be limited in number and will be a prelude to a much bigger and complete book by 2012 end. This photography book will have a set of forty images, write ups, quotes and a few other things and will act as a reference point for upcoming project in Rajasthan.
Here’s a brief excerpt from it.
A Whiff of Raj
” I started my photography from Rajasthan. At the beginning, I went there as a mere spectator, drawing an inclination to travel with the discovery of the state. The hung over market, hustle and bustle of streets, an array of colors and the friendly bantering of people, Rajasthan to me transported at peace that tends to engage you and yearn for more. The first time was in 2005. With no reference points as such I started taking pictures as a traveler without giving much of a thought other than the external beauty. Slowly, though taken in isolation, with every trip the bundle of images kept growing and with each trip, new images came in and the old ones were left out. In particular, this was quite true of Jodhpur, whose old world charm and blue painted walls never failed to produce the desired result. So far it has been a sort of personal journey. And this inquisitiveness to go there again has not died.”
