Photo of the Week

Attempting to share one image and story behind it each week.

May 11, 2020: Pigeons, Pushkar Lake

Pushkar Lake

I took this image at Pushkar Lake. As a photographer based in India I have been here a few times. It’s a great spot . You can walk the entire circumference of the lake along the ghats. While one side of the ghat is crowded, the other end is relatively quiet. It’s difficult to photograph especially if the camera is pointing towards the lake. One is not allowed to photograph, so one has to be really careful. However many locals ignore the same and think of it more as a way to make money. Usually there are plenty of birds on the quiet side resting on walls of temples and fly when disturbed by visitors. Most of whom are looking to take selfies, or feed the birds. One such moment occurred and I took this photograph.
