How we blossomed: a trek to Valley of Flowers
How we blossomed: a trek to Valley of Flowers
Hidden in the vast mountain ranges of the western Himalayas lies a valley, the Valley of Flowers. A 500 kilometre drive from New Delhi, this picturesque National Park in Uttarakhand is also a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. In August and September (the best months of the year to visit) the hills are alive to the sounds of an incredible diversity of fauna and the smells from a plethora of alpine flora. Starting from Govindghat, it’s a days trek to Ghangaria at the entrance of the valley. Accommodation along the way ranges from campsites to hotels and guest houses. Then one can take day trips into the valley itself. Mules and porters to carry you are optional! |
